The Difference We Can Make

It all starts with a starfish…

This B Corp month we celebrated the actions —big or small — that are community is taking. In 2024, Society Building became a B Corp, a commitment to put people, communities, and the planet first. From the milk in our coffee machines to how we divert waste from the landfill, every action counts. 

We were inspired by Loren Eiseley’s ‘The Star Thrower’, which tells the story of an old man walking along the beach who comes across a young boy throwing stranded starfish back into the sea. The man doubts the boy’s actions, saying it won’t make a difference with so many starfish to save. The boy replies, “I made a difference to that one”.
