Where: Conference Space, TBS Fitzrovia, 55 Whitfield Street, London W1T 4AH

About

The lunchtime session giving members a unique perspective on the challenges faced by neurodivergent communities. Led by Stephanie Kyle, maber’s inhouse neurodiverse inclusive design specialist, the session goes beyond existing industry standards, such as “PAS 6463: Design for The Mind” and “BS 8300:2018 Design of an Accessible and Inclusive Built Environment.

Virtual Reality Experience

Following the talk, TBS members will have the opportunity to try the VR simulation to better understand how decisions we make in the design of our built environment can affect the experiences of a neurodivergent population.
The simulation aims to allow designers & users to experience first hand how those with conditions such as autism, visual impairment & sensory overload might encounter a space.

What is Inclusive Design?

Inclusive design goes further than accessible design by considering many more factors that affect a person’s experience of the space they are in. Inclusive design considers vision and hearing impairment, design for hidden disabilities including physical conditions such as fibromyalgia or Crohn’s disease and neurological conditions such as Autism, Alzheimer’s, and dyslexia.
